'36 Ford rearend - # of splines? I want to use one of the Speedway kits to adapt the stock rearend in my 36 to an open driveshaft. They have one for a 6 spline and one for a 10 spline...which would the 36 use? Thanks!

Now on your last post you posted a lot of information, apparently copied from Mac Van Pelts website. This information looks to me to be for reproduction gear sets, probably made in Italy, that he is selling as new replacement gear sets. These gear sets available for '35 -'48 vehicles with original banjo style rears, are reproduced with 6 spline gears. No one to my knowledge is making '35-'48 reproduction banjo style rear gears with 10 spline pinions. If these repro gears are what you plan to use, then your only choice would be to use a set of these gears with a 6 spline pinion and buy the kit for an open drive that would be necessary for a 6 spline pinion. If you are planning to use a stock used set of gears, either what's in your car now, or maybe purchase another used set of gears in the preferred ratio, then depending on what that pinion spline count is, will dictate which spline count kit you will need to buy from Speedway. Hopefully, this is clearer than mud :). |
