Fuel Problems on a 1947 V8 truck
 

Hi,
Would anyone have any suggestions/ideas of what would be wrong with my 1947 Truck? I have removed the fuel tank and cleaned it out, cleaned the carb, all the petrol lines are clean but when I connect it all back up I am not getting petrol to the carb, tried to start the truck on a pull but still no petrol went to the glass bowl. I poured some petrol into the carb and pulled the truck again and it started great and then when that petrol ran out it stopped.

I am debating on taking the lift pump off but i don't think it is it. Any suggestions would be great.

Any type of air leak will cause this type of problem.

there is a valve on the tank where the fuel line is, have you tried to turn this valve? next thing to do is disconnect the fuel line at the fuel pump tank side, remove gas cap and blow low pressure air into the line you should hear bubbles in the tank, if not the line or the vale is stopped up

most fuel pumps wont prime themselves, take an air hose and plug where you add gas with a rag, blow low pressure air in tank till the bowl on fuel pump is full, with some one cranking engine till it fires
