6V Turn Signal Buzzer

I’m looking for a 6v turn signal buzzer and instructions for adding to a turn signal.

My car came from the previous owner with a toggle switch that operates the 6v turn signals, and he wired the instrument panel light to the circuit so that it would flash as a reminder that the signal is flashing. That isn’t so bad in daylight, but it makes night driving at night a nuisance because you can only see the speedometer and gas gauge with the turn signal turned on (and it flashes with the turn signal lights).

I’d like like to replace the toggle switch with a Signal-Stat 900. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BNL1QIY..._UCrGEb4B27HGH The existing toggle and wiring work fine. I’m hoping that I can leave the majority of the wiring in place for the new switch. I haven’t purchased a new switch yet. The Signal-Stat just seems to look old like the car. Is there a better choice than this switch?

Can anyone point me to a vendor for a 6v turn signal buzzer and wiring instructions? I haven’t had much luck with Google or Amazon.com.

The Signal Stat unit looks period correct.

Look on Ebay for a 6 volt buzzer. There are some small buzzers or annunciators that will do the job for about $5 - $8 that can be wired in parallel with your flasher.

Thanks, everyone. That helps a lot!

I have one more related question. This afternoon, I took the dash apart and removed the driver kick panel. The dash light is wired into the signal circuit; so, it does not come on with parking light switch on the steering wheel.

Can anyone help me determine what the dash light should be connected to in order to work as Ford designed it?

Connect wire from dash light to. Amp meter + side

Absolutely the best turn signal system for old cars including Model A. It has everything you're looking for and will likely install right over your current set up. One capability that stands out (among many others unavailable elsewhere) is true automatic canceling. Check them out for details: http://www.turnswitch.com/Turnsignal.htm

I checked them out a while back. I love that idea. However, If I recall correctly, their troubleshooting section led me to believe that low voltage could cause issues. I’m not sure if My car low voltage issues or not, but my ammeter is wiggly and often shows close to zero. So, I started looking at older technology to avoid what could be a troubleshooting nightmare for me.

Thanks for the link though. If the car had been converted to 12 volt, I probably would have gone with that switch.

I believe he is talking about the Amp meter on the dash.

A cheap 6vt buzzer from Amazon can be wired to the flasher itself. Just activate the turn signal and try different combinations of the wires until you get it right. You can put the buzzer wire directly on the flasher posts and snap the wire back on over it. Chap

Anyone have a picture of a buzzer they like. I wouldn't want one the drives me any crazier than what's normal for me. :D

The dash light connects directly to the ammeter post next to it, the on-off switch is built in (rotator). You could just leave as is and switch it off at night.

Re: 6V Turn Signal Buzzer

Just wire the buzzer into the wire from the P terminal on the flasher. This wire goes to the pilot light bulb on the stick out of the control box on the steering column. I do think the buzzers are polarity sensitive. Another suggestion is the use a multi pin connector to attach wires from/to the controller to the various signal lights and the flasher. Makes life a lot easier if you ever have to trouble shoot a problem.

I use a flasher w/built in buzzer, like this:https://www.ebay.com/itm/2Pin-6-12v-...kAAOSwCXBd6WA5

Guten Tag miteinenander.

I do not love modern buzzer sound on my oldtimers. So I soldered a small brass clapper to an old relay anchor. When blinking, the clapper knocks against the sheet from the engine compartment.

How many decibels should a buzzer have in order to be heard over the Model A engine (but not be deafening for the car occupants)?
