59 edsel

Hope this is ok to ask about an Edsel since its more or less a ford right?
Any how does anybody know what ford model the 59 ranger was closer too . I am looking for rear shocks and it has a 120 inch wheelbase.
I have the 223 6 cylinder motor and am ordering a ford fairlane radiator already.
Just mention Edsel in a part search and it gets whack.

I think it is comparable to the smaller custom line-think. And that depends on the body that you have. But with a 6 under the hood I am guessing the small body style.

Listen it is OK that you ask anything about any FORD here. All questions and experiences are welcome as far as I am concerned.

The trouble with EDSEL was that it had it's own PARTS CATALOGING. Without that, most anything is a guess.

The 58 MODEL YEAR was based on the FORD AND MERC platform (two different cars). 1959/60 was all FORD, just trimmed differently.

Re: 59 edsel

Fordbarn is for all things Ford within the 1903 to 1964 time frame but we get questions about some later cars and trucks too. No worries here. The Ford 223 was used for a long time through the early to mid 50s and on up into the 60s.

The Fairlane was the big Ford in 1959 and the Mercury Monterey was also similar. Either would be about as close to the Edsel Ranger as you can get. I certainly don't know if they share the same radiator but it is possible.

In reality ... ... guess that leaves me out ...

The 1958/60 EDSEL was a very unique car.

What you need (IMO) for the car is - https://www.detroitironis.com/1959-e...anuals-cd.html

That CD should answer all your questions. Of course feel free to come here and ask anything but again, without that PARTS MANUAL, it is hard to determine how the car was assembled.

A few suppliers of Ford parts have an Edsel section as well. Pretty much the same as the Custom 300, Fairlane and Galaxie.

IMO, the Edsel was a much nicer looking car than the Ford. Same for '60.
