Which rad brace 47 fenders on 41 frame

Over the years my 47 coupe build has taken some twists and turns long story short I ended up putting the body into a 41 frame. I have both I shaped radiator braces for the 41 and 47 and was wondering which one would work best or doesn't it really matter?

a rad. in a '41 has lower mounts on the frame and upper mounts that attach to the inner fenders. also I believe '41 fenders mount differently than '47. I'd go with whichever parts matches up the best between '41 and '47.

Id go with the lowest one , it’s easier to raise than it is to lower

About how high should the inner fenders be off the frame?

'47 inner fenders sit outside of and overhang the frame. There are several rubber bumpers (by the white arrows) near the lower edge of them to keep them from rattling against the frame.

On review; I see what you meant; the inset section of the inner fender panels sit about 1/2" over the top of the frame.

Other than the inner fenders I don't have any sheet metal installed, so it is possible the yoke may need to be shimmed up.

When I took this car apart there was no shim; just a piece of anti squeak under the yoke.

As this is a not stock application you have to build it. There isn't a pre prepared formula or set of rules. You probably need to fit the hood, align it to the cowl and then set all the sheet metal in place. then with plenty of room around you, eyeball it from all angles until it all looks good with no awkward angles or kicks anywhere. If it is too low, raise it. If it is too high, see what needs to be cut out to lower it. Once it looks good see what needs to be done to support it all. One of the existing yokes might work with suitable mods.
It's called customising or hot rodding or modifying. People have been doing it for years.
move it about until it looks right then start welding up the required mounts.
It's fun to do and basically you're on your own unless someone has done the exact same job and can advise, but as no-one has done that so far, you need to spearhead the job yourself.
Let us know what you come up with.
Just make it look good. It's amazing how many people fail to achieve that when using a mish mash of parts.

Mart.

Wondering if shimming and adding the welting and other padding will help kind of line things up a bit.

when you "think" you have everything lined up, take a picture of the front, dead on. You'll be surprised at what shows up that you don't see with only your eyes. It's almost impossible to see both sides at the same time but you can in a picture.

Talked to a friend about his car. He used all '46 front sheet metal on his '41 including the 51A-5071 channel that goes across the frame and supports the 51A-16138 yoke. Also used a radiator that fit the '46 mounting.

Did he do any mods to get that to fit? I noticed with my 41 frame that the bottom of the frame horns wasn't flat like the 46-48.

'41 is narrower frame too, more like a '40 if I remember correctly.
