counterfeiters caught at SEMA

Not Ford flathead, however, it was great to see the arrest of counterfeiters at SEMA this past week. This could have easily been Ford parts for one of our vendors that we deal with.

I hope this will lead to many more being revealed banned and sued. These knock offs are cheap and dirty copies of things well done by hard working companies with sometimes major investments. And , us unknowingly purchasing inferior and some times possibly deadly cheap parts. I know we all have to make a living, but not by cheap and often unsafe crap.

This is why I will never understand all these corporations rush to move manufacturing to China. Their products are copied and sold for a fraction of the price on the streets of Chinese cities. The quality is poor but it is just "good enough" to offer to the public. You name it; cell phones, tablets, nav units, golf clubs, etc. You can find a knockoff of any popular item in China.

For our retrofit product, we got a design patent. Our attorney said "don't ever plan on suing someone if they copy your design because it will cost upward of $50K to chase them" The copycats know the odds are in their favor. Of course, Americans demand cheap pricing instead of quality.

As evidenced by the flood of "Snap-OFF" tools out there...

Buy quailty...only cry once.

But damn it's hard sometimes to find anything but cheap quality!
