Split wishbone, pitman inference

Split my bones and installed drop axle, running a stock steering box, how do I cure pitman arm interference? I’ve got a standard and shortened arm, both are bad. Can I bend it outboard to clear the bone? Any advice not involving a diff steering box? Thnx

I'm not a Model A guy, buy there are Pitman arms with the ball on the inside, toward the center of the car. That'll get the drag link away from that wishbone. In fact, is it possible to turn your Pitman arm around, if it is sitting on a SQUARE shaft?

i used a long pitman arm and bent it two different ways to go around the bone, it works for me but then again i'm using hex bar with heim joints on all my steering i cut the ball off the arm drilled and tapped for a 5/8 fine thread bolt works great.

Maybe if you turned the pitman arm around like it originally was it would clear.

Could you share a photo of your bends showing the arm clearance please?

I’ll investigate this today in the garage. Thanks.

Re: Split wishbone, pitman inference

Why not mount the radius rod inboard of the frame mount? Or place the mount inboard on the frame.

These set ups don't do a real good job of replacing the wishbone.

Re: Split wishbone, pitman inference

YUP turn it around and you may want to bend the steering arm down a bit.
