Cool at last
 

Just returned from the first trip after installing an air conditioning unit from Ken Davis. A hot and very humid day in Iowa but we rode in comfort.

Installation was was pretty straight-forward and Ken was very helpful with instructions. The kit seems well designed and fit very well.

Amazing! You can still make it up a hill with the AC on? Any engine mods?

it's been 105*+ here for over a month. I turned mine on low today because it was getting too cold. Worth every penny.

I consider myself more of a purist, but that set up is 'very cool' indeed, I really like it. Very nice job!!!!!

Great photos Gary. Yup. I love mine in the cabriolet and sometimes use it at night with the top down also. Worth every penny!

I used a repo handle and we cut it near the weld at the bottom. Removed a 4 3/4" section and welded it back together. It is not a problem to set the emergency brake even though it is shortened.

Running a Snyder 5.5 head with Bill Stipe touring cam. I turned the unit off and on going up hills to see if I could determine any difference. I honestly could not detect any noticeable difference in the performance.

I purchased the unit from Ken Davis in Colleyville, Texas. A nice fellow to do business with and very helpful in providing information.

I have had a Model A for 40 years and never considered an air conditioner. Age and health issues changed that, now I feel we can continue to enjoy our touring trips in the hot/humid midwest. And yes, I expected and received some flack, but I still ride COOL:cool::D:D:D:D:D.

Yes I am using a unit from Ken. It was very easy to install and was well worth it.

Could you show a pic of where you mount the condensor and is it r12 or 134. and have you changed from + ground to - ground also how much did the set up cost My dad said he took my mom for a ride in his 29 pickup and she said it would be nice if she could have her AC.

You have to convert to 12V neg. ground. The cost is approximately $1100 for the complete unit.

Jordon I see your car is a 4 Dr.? Is the ac. really OK or just ok? Has anyone rode in the back and been comfortable? The reason I ask is I installed a Vintage Air ac in my 55 chevy and it is really not OK. It is just ok when the vents are right on you, but otherwise its not ok.

I rode in the back seat the other weekend and was perfectly comfortable. The trick to getting the AC to work better is Insulation. The more insulation you have, the colder the unit is going to blow. It's picking up the air right by your feet on the floor board. So if you don't have it insulated, it's going to pick up the hot air and try to cool it down. But if it's insulated, it's already cooler air, and it'll be even colder coming out of the vents. I also insulated the cowl panels, cut out special overs for over the gas petal and emergency brake holes to make sure absolutely no air was leaking in. I also took a black insulator and wrapped it around the steering column so that no heat could travel up it from the engine compartment and heat up the floor boards. I took every possible measure to insulate that area, and it has worked well and you can really tell a difference. The next step is to take the door panels off and insulate inside those too.
