Macs Customer service

What an experience when trying to call Macs or Erlichs i think now called for customer service.. Listened to B-S for 20 minutes about all the things they could do for me and that a rep would be with me in a mminute but finally hung up..Only wanted to know why a wheel cylender would cost $40 shipping to Canada as they wont tell you until it is shipped so you cant refuse it..

Mac's customer service is a perfect oxymoron.

I KEEP PREACHING to you guys about this outfit! I just ain't figured-out how to make ALL the horses drink the water yet!! If anyone that is looking for parts does not first call Michael Driscoll at 3rd Generation, or "Mac" at Mac VanPelt Parts (NOT Mac's), shame on ya! And there are a few other HONEST, TRUSTWORTHY, HELPFUL, and DOWNRIGHT DECENT individuals that are regulars here on the FordBarn with parts and services that treat ya like family. If ya need something, the first two above will have QUALITY stuff and services, or will happily point you in the right direction. DD

++8always read and consider what Coopman says. Seems to know what he’s talking about.

I have ordered from the old Macs and I’ve ordered from the new. Not any more!
I’ve had them notify me nine days after the order date that they were now processing my order.
I almost always order from C&G. I didn’t know Van Pelt was also selling parts other than transmission stuff.

I've frequently heard that Joe's is right on up there for service and parts. I have just never had the pleasure, yet. DD

Friendly, knowledgeable, fair prices, and fast and reasonable shipping. What more could you ask for?

I can not understand why folks who have hundreds of posts on the Barn continue to disregard all the good advice about the "good guy" vendors and then come on to gripe about a bad experience with vendors that have not been recommended for good service????

Re: Macs Customer service

I have no experience using Mac's, hence no bad reports, but it's scary to look at the V-8 Times and see their double page add right where the magazine is stapled together.

I have said too many times here already how Michael and Jane at Third Gen Automotive have supplied many perfectly correct bits and bobs to keep my cars on the road. Extremely fair vendor.

This is taking a left turn. But Michael is so into parts that he knows their numbers like I know the times tables up to twelve. Probably he knows about ten thousand of them. Going through a swap meet with him narrating is one of my favorite memories, amazing!

I have purchased from Joe’s and Van Pelt and have only good things to say about both. Knowledgeable, fair and honest.

Re: Macs Customer service

You guys still living in the stone-age (flathead era), haha, you may have some decent alternatives to get good parts and services, but us guys in the 54+V8 group don't have those options. I have ordered several times from many of the mainstream repro parts suppliers (Carpenters, Concourse, Mac's, Obsolete & classic, etc).
My favorite vendor was Joblot Automotive in Queens village, NY, but they shuttered many years ago. I always got the same guy on the phone when I called them and he knew his stuff. And their prices were outrageously low compared to the other vendors for the same parts. I sure do miss them. I told Concourse a couple years ago I would never order from them again, and I haven't. But no matter who you get parts from now, quality is very substandard.
Carpenters rubber products shrink too much, allowing leaks to occur. All the vendors stock electrical parts from china that have under-rated contacts and substandard methods of attachment. Don't ever buy an ignition condenser from any of them or you will be sorry pretty quickly, points either. Prices are outrageous and rising very quickly. Return policies stink too.
