Getting car ready for Marc touring class

I am planning to enter my car in touring class at the 2019 Marc meet in Dearborn mi .I have the judging standard, and read them. My car has done well at the old car festival at greenfield village such as grand champion. I always try to put my best foot forward when entering in a show , but I am realistic that my car is a 20 year old restoration but show very well for her age. What can I do to prepare the car and see how close I can get for a mark of excellent Thanks for your time in advanced Joe.

You are aware that the T/C Judging uses a separate book for Judging than what F/P does. Purchase the T/C Judging Book which basically has the score sheet inside, and have a couple of knowledgeable Model-A guys scrutinize your car using the point system outlined the book. When you/they have finished judging the car, you will likely know how your car will score at Dearborn.

Do what Brent suggested - as someone who has participated in the MARC Touring Class judging, you can learn a lot about how your car will fare. I'd add that some folks have modified their cars - you can bring along the correct parts and switch them out ahead of the judging. Example: coil-to-dissy wire...lots of us use the modern version which has boots on each end; this avoids having the wire fall out of the coil nipple. You can switch out to the correct non-booted wire for the judging, then back to the booted version afterwards.

jm, there's no problem with asking some knowledgeable Model A people to assess your car against the TC standards. Tires are covered therein.

Again, it has been YEARS since I prepped a vehicle for TC judging but I kinda thought their only criteria was that the tire had to be the proper size and that the tires were in overall good condition (i.e.: like less than 25% wear). I did not think whitewalls were specifically mentioned. Maybe I should look??

Page 9 of the Touring Class Judging Standards addresses tires.

White walls are not a point deduction.

A fuse is not a point deduction either. Hey, it's a crap-shoot. Make an fair effort, and expect nothing. Just go and enjoy yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
