Re: Selling model a

Check him out with members down under. I had a very suspicious, to me, call and finally sold a car to the gentleman that had called. Some are real, some are not, just like here. Talk to the suspect and get an address, have one of the bloke on Fordbarn check it out a bit. Never hurts to be careful. Don't press {"ONE" to talk to his boss or transfer your call. That can cost you dearly.

Re: Selling model a

What information do you have on him? Which state is he from, for example. I will check around for you though the name sounds familiar - just can't recall where I have heard it.
That said, as I said to Daveymc29, you hold all the cards. The car doesn't leave till the money is in your account.

So ...

Are you selling a car ?

Is it posted for sale here ?

Why are you asking about someone specifically by first and last name ?

When you question someone by specific name - you are questioning their
integrity and reputation - whether you realize it or not.

Why are you questioning other members about this individual specifically ?

I knew I knew the name! He is a bit of a dealer in Model A parts who has a factory/warehouse not far from me. I have even bought the odd item from him at swap meets. Like I said, you hold all the aces here.

With all the scams going on these days, It is just doing your due diligence to check someone out if you are going to get involved in this type of transaction.

I have sold cars thru the internet and I always tell a prospective buyer to check me out. I have a very good reputation and do not have anything to hide.

My opinion,

Chris W.

I don't doubt that but scammers have even tried to use this forum in their scam.

I Disagree

Chris,

I Disagree

Your Thread Assumes the person interested in buying a car
you have for sale Is Dishonest somehow.

That is not fair to them and an insult to name them
on a public forum.

They are interested in buying a car.

They are not interested in a background check
by Ford Barn forum members.

My guess is that you are doing this because this person
is from Australia.

If you don’t want to sell a car to someone who lives out
of the US - then don’t.

I totally agree with you. When you are talking large dollar amounts you should verify the buyer is legitimate. I say he has done nothing wrong. It’s the same as a potential customer asking if Truly Vintage is a reputable car transporter. Criticism is unjust in my opinion.

A simple search of the person named by the OP
would have resulted in this:

https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...1&d=1600690910

Found on a Ford Barn Search

The OP is not selling car here on Ford Barn.

Re: Selling model a

I agree with Chris W. on this post. I'm retired with almost 40 years in banking and I've seen it all. If I'm honest and I'm entering into a transaction, by all means, check me out. There are soooo many scams out there. If you're honest and forth right, then nothing else matters, and if you're dishonest and wrong, then nothing else matters.
