Lost key for 1931 Victoria

When I bought my Victoria (my first A) in August of 2019, the previous owner had lost the passenger side door key. (There is no outside key on the driver's door, but it locks if your turn the inside handle clockwise. I presume that only one key locking door was the original design of the car.)

Is there a snowball's chance in summer of finding a key that would fit the passenger side door?

originally the ignition and door handle key used the same key. is the handle original. if it is remove it and take it to a lock smith some of them can make a new key.

Take off the handle and send it to Dick Crabtree [email protected] .

He can take care of it.

If you have an original Pop-out ignition switch or a Ford replacement ignition switch, he can key the ignition and door to the same key which is how your car came from the factory.

Dick does outstanding work at a very fair price and he also has restored components for sale.

Lost key for 1931 Victoria

I checked a moment ago, and the pop-out ignition key does not fit the door. I’m guessing that the ignition switch and the door lock are both replacements.

This is the ignition key. By the way, I’d love to get a couple of spare ignition keys made. I haven’t had much luck having it duplicated locally. Does anyone recognize a key blank supplier for this key? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...b784e74a3d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...aa8ab0a9af.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...116ef17c03.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...c8af8bdbb8.jpg

That ignition key is for the reproduction popouts made in Spain in years past.

Does the number "3" on the back side of the key indicate the key cut? In other words, could the appropriate key be ordered by specifying the "3" to the vendor? (The pop-out appears to have an upside-down "3" on it as well.) Do you have any idea who would still sell this?

Actualy your door handle looks to be an original and Dick Crabtree could probably make a key for you.
The popout is NOT a Spanisch one but the kind that was sold untill a couple years ago thru the Model A parts houses and was made in Japan I think.
Bratton's used to sell the blanks for them, maybe good to contact them.

Re: Lost key for 1931 Victoria

I recently had a key made for an original door handle. If you look at the square shaft that goes into the door on an original handle, you will see a code stamped on it. It will be "A****". That is, A and four digits. I quoted that number to a vendor over there and he had his locksmith make a couple of keys for me. Because you guys are so far away, the locksmith also supplied a couple of blanks so that if his didn't work (they did), I could have a local guy cut a key for me.

I took the plunge and removed the handle, but I don’t see an “A****” marking.

For 1931 handle You have to remove the cylinder to see the key number on it, but you need a key to remove it. :-((
Send it to Dick Crabtree

Does this appear to be an original door handle? If not, would I be better off just ordering a new handle (which comes with two keys) from Bratton’s?

Re: Lost key for 1931 Victoria

Contact Dick Crabtree. Send him your handle and buy from him a restored Pop-Out ignition switch.

He will key the handle the same as the ignition switch.

This is how the car should be. You will be very pleased.

If you want a repo handle, I have one that I will sell you cheap.

It was on my Vickey when I bought the car. The original handle also came with the car but no key.

I had Dick Crabtree key my original handle to the ignition switch and now I have the car as it should be.

The original handles are much nicer than the repos.

My opinion.
