1927 T Roadster
 

I have a Model A and really should iron out some things with it, but now I've gotten a craving for a T. I found a decent looking '27 Roadster. (sorry no pics) I know it's been asked a million times, but, realistically how fast will one go? I don't need to break records with it or drive on interstate/4 lanes roads, but where it's posted at '55' would I be horribly in the way?

Difficult to answer. At what speed are you comfortable with in your Model A ? The T will probably feel about the same 10 MPH slower. No, you wouldn't be "Horribly" in the way; BUT you would be in the way....But enjoying the driving experience.

I currently am able to drive the A at 45mph. I don't drive it any faster unless I'm going downhill. It's just that I've heard people say 'Don't get one of those, they'll only go 15-25mph.'

Cruse it at 40, you'll have fun. The A should cruse at 50 with comfort.

With only 20 HP and a 2-speed planetary drive, a person can't push one much more than previously mentioned. They can be modified to give them more poop and top end such as speedster mods but it can take a lot more time and funds to get it there.

With a stock rearend/motor, sure they can do 45+ on the flat, but most like it between 35 and 40. Stock cars, the power can drop off real fast on the hills.

Just be aware that even at 40 MPH the T brakes are mostly a wish so plan ahead to stop or slow down.

I rarely drive my 24 T over 35mph (estimated-no speedo). Always on local roads with long stopping distances. Yes it will do 45, but remember, you are in a 100 year old car with wood wheels, wood framing, no seat belts and almost no brakes. I rolled on model T on its top when it went over center, and have personally known others who were injured. Not a good vehicle for x-ways, or multi lane local roads. My hat is off to the cross country T drivers, but not for me unless the car is on a trailer!

Just keep off the big roads. Take the roads that were there when it was built

As far as getting in the way everyone seems surprised with the launch of my sedan. When it is time to go, we get.

I have owned two 27 Model T Roadsters. Still have one of them. Sure they will do 40 mph, but I think that is asking for problems on a Model T. I suggest you think in terms of 30 to 35 at the top end so that car will last you many years.

I was just thinking about this yesterday. I have a '28 Sport Coupe that I bought in May of this year. Since then 90% of my driving has been around town. Only been on the highway a few times. I could get a Model T and just drive it around town and be happy with it. Now.....where to put it.......

I'm confused.....On the Model T site it says that Roadsters were black only?

For a lot of years that was true but the earliest and late models were available in colors.
