Agreed, if not even more. From what I gather, Woodies are losing some ground in the market. Whomever owned this car, should be doing the jig.

The finical markets during the pandemic have created tremendous wealth for some people. We're going to see a few of these high end TV auctions yield some stunning results for a while longer.

Truth. The "TV Auction" high end cars and the "Gold Chainers" are going to do fine.

It will not be so pleasant for those of us down "in the trenches".

Face it : the "Barret Jackson Guys" are not car guys, they're financial manipulators. The sooner we realize this and divorce ourselves from this crap, the better off we'll be. I would be willing to bet that none of those buying and selling the high end cars there have never even touched the cars, much less worked on them.

Rant over.

Exactly right. They are investors, period. It's only about the money, nothing else. They buy policies from Lloyds of London and don't give a damn if their garages burn to the ground.

Such a different reality. My knuckles know every nut and every bolt personally on my meager stable. If it burned down tonight I'd be out maybe 25 grand, but I would be devastated. Real car guys don't wear gold chains. So for these investors, it's like they are buying hog futures?

The 1947 Ford "Woodie" was from the Edsel Ford II collection. He had the car modified with a 302 engine, automatic trans and all the modern conveniences. Jack Roush Racing did all the mechanicals. I think it went for $150K. He also sold his 1958 Edsel Bermuda station wagon in the auction.

Nope. 1.5 times that $150K is much closer. $209K hammer, plus the 10% fee (I'm assuming) makes it closer to $229K. Add taxes and transport to get it to your shop. Yikes.

P.T. Barnum knew the right customers! Those whales in Scottsdale are a whole industry into themselves.

You can’t knock Jack Roush as part of that stuff. Roush has a long long history of true love of Fords. I’m proud to have judged a couple of his Dearborn restorations on the V8 Club Concourse.

That's amazing. I am asking only $29k for my '47 convertible, which is priced lower than Hemmings and other sources.

my eyes must be deceiving me. a ford owned woodie with a late model motor discussed on the ford barn!!

Bill, I am with you, the "provenance" must have some value to someone.

otherwise it looks like every other 46 48 ford woodie to me!
