1932 Beep Horn

I have a '32 Ford "Beep" horn that I want to restore and convert to 12 Volts. Dave Cole in one of his V8 Times articles mentions using newer 6 volt horn parts to do this. Looking for advice on what 12 volt horn or parts to look for. Thanks, Ted

I'm sure there are several options about this. I suggest you restore the horn as 6 volts. Just as it came from the factory. The voltage is hot to the horn. The circuit is completed by pushing the horn button to ground. Install a resistor inline before the horn. Thus reducing the voltage from 12 to something less....hopefully 6 volts. Not a uncommon thing to do. All of the Ford Falcons and early Mustangs used 6 volt instruments thru a voltage drop/resistor. I think Vintique sells a Resistor/voltage drop. Have fun.

Hi all; One of our local members has been putting Harbor freight 12V horn vibrators inside Ford horns for a year or so... Very cheap and clever.. work great!! Newc
