Model a instruction book

HI;

My question is this I just bought a original owners manual for the late 31's June - December Cars and Trucks, but when I got the book in the mail on the last page it says form No.1940.

But in the front of the book it says copyrighted 1931 by Ford Motor Company all rights reserved, so do I have a original book here or not as I have never seen a original book before as I just found this one in fairly good shape.

With the pages not all ripped up and no writing on them either or any kind of marks what's so ever on any page, the book just has a stain mark on the outside of the front cover other then that the book is perfect.

I carry a pdf version of a 1928 copy of the instruction manual on my phone. It is also a Form 1940.

Just looked a my collection of 28/29 Instruction books each is different however the last page has "Form No 1940". Additionally my 1928 original parts book has "Form No. 1932" on the last page. Further my original 1919 Ford Manual has "Ford Form 1939" on the next to the last page.

This number is just a "Form" number it has nothing to do with the year published or copyrighted.

Yes;

I known it was just a number and that number didn't mean when it was printed date at all, As I wanted to know this information is because I have never seen a original Manual before and I didn't know that there was a forum number on the back page of the manual either.

But now I do know that there's a number on the back page that has nothing to do, with the printing of the Manual as the print year or date is in the front of the book as I found out but didn't know before.

My original hard cover Model T "Ford Service" book has no form number but it does have "Copyright 1926 FORD MOTOR COMPANY" inside the front.

The original manual I have for my '31 Roadster has "Form No. 1940" in the back.

Reproduction manuals usually credit PolyPrints as the publisher.

Re: Model a instruction book

the ford oval on the front cover of a reproduction manual is smaller than the original oval on a factory manual.
