topbow/irons installation Hi - I am installing new top irons and bows on a 1914 roadster but have no pattern to follow. There is a lot of info on the mftca site but nothing specific to
a 1914 roadster. What I need to know is the distance from the top (or bottom) of the wood bows to the pivot points of the three top irons. I found out that the front bow extends about 3" forward of the windshield and the rear of the rear bow extends 1" to 1.5" to the rear of the body. What is the location of the centre bow relative to the other bows? Thanks, A. Dinsmore |

From the MTFCA forum:
"From the front edge of the center bow the the back of the upper windshield frame is 25 inches. The top clears the windshield by about 3 inches." |
Re: topbow/irons installation I have several drawings at home which provide dimensions for 12-14 roadsters. Send me an email and I will show you what i have. I ordered 1912 bows this week and am installing them presently. ([email protected])

Now I need to know how far the second and third bows project from their respective sockets. Thanks. |

1914 runabout, top bow, info from tech editor reply in 1992 club magazine,
" The metal top sockets length is as follows : #1 22"; #2 24"; #3 or rear socket 26 ". Wood bows are 47 1/2 " wide. The first wood bow will stick out of the socket about 1", the second and third will each stick out 8". " Sketch is for '15-'22 runabout tops. The dimensions are approx. for a 1914, but the 1914 windshield is placed further out on the body, so the #1 or front bow on the 1914 will be longer. As the top reaches out over the windshield. |
