Front axel

Is there a front and a rear on the front axel or is the axel symetrical? Also are the kingpins right and left or can they be enterchanged? Thanks JB

Re: Front axel

The kingpins are left and right.

Is your axle straight? Here is how to check- Front Axle

The king pins should also be snug in the holes of the axles. Some have been run loose and will not lock in tight if they are worn.

You may also need some spacers if the spindles are worn on the top where the bearings go. When assembled they should not have up and down.

The wish bone should be snug to the axle too. Some are worn there from being run loose.

Re: Front axel

There is no taper in the holes in the axle. There is a taper machined into the key portion of the lock bolt and as you tighten the steering stop nut it wedges the lock against the k/p. If done the other way normal production tolerances could stack up and the king pin might not be held tight.

The kingpin lock bolts are inserted from the front and the stops thread on from the back.
