1932 Speedometer Cable
 

I am working on my '32 roadster.

I have the factory transmission and speedometer cable housing on it.
I need to make a speedometer cable from the transmission up to the '30 Essex instrument panel I am running.

Does anyone know the stock length for the cable AND how it routes?
Seems to me it may be about 65" in length?

Hi...

I just pulled the cable from my B. It's all original and may never have been apart. It is 62" long an routes through the firewall, down through the K member and to the tranny. Good luck on the project.

Isn't the speedo gear on the front of the driveshaft ? not the transmission.

For the record, the length of the original inner cable, B-17262, was 61.81" and that of the outer cable housing, B-17261, was 60.82". The routing from the gear and cap assembly attached to the front of the torque tube was through a rubber grommet in a round hole roughly in the center of the right side of the center cross member and then through another, larger, rubber grommet in a large hole near the outside end of the right side center cross member arm (or leg or 'K' member, whichever you prefer). From there the cable is routed on the outside of the firewall as shown in deucevikki's photo.
