1931 Model A Roadster WIW
 

Hi everyone I’m a new member and trying to find out how is 1931 Model A roadster worth. I don’t have pictures yet I know it’s hard to put a figure on it.
Stock steel body and it had a body off restoration but many years ago but not assembled missing front fenders.
I’m into muscle car and have no idea what it’s worth and I always wanted one.

Without detailed photographs no one is really going to be able to give you any sound/valuable estimate on this vehicles value. You state it is missing fenders....
What else is missing? How much rust is there and body restoration needed is
a huge factor in potential value. Possibly a $3000 project as described.
Your best bet is to find the nearest Model A club and see if a member can assist you.
Look at the MAFCA web page at vehicles for sale to get a idea as to value of cars.

Remember it is frequently better to buy one that is finished and not try to piece one together, especially if you are new to Model A's. We do look forward to seeing the pictures.

See if you can drive a Model A before you buy one, especially since you are into muscle cars!

My wife wanted a Roadster so I bought a 1929 Roadster for her for Valentine’s Day 2014. The first thing she said after driving it was “this car doesn’t have enough power.”

You have to get used to driving these cars in the slow lane. Maximum speed is 55 to 60 unless you have modified the engine. They don’t have acceleration like a new car and driving in town you’ll have people riding your bumper.

I paid $17,500 for our California car with both the body, frame and power train in excellent condition. The market for Roadsters in good condition is anywhere from $12,000 to $19,000 depending on the condition.

I suggest you check the Classified section on MAFCA (www.mafca.com) site for an idea of the market.

Thanks for everyone’s advise. I’ll get pictures soon, but has no rust the gentleman restored and painted the body and powder coated the frame and suspension new tires the body is set on the frame needs to to be bolted on and engine and trans rebuilt and has to be installed.
At least now I know ball park what they’ve worth done

I’d pay better for untouched than what u describe.

if the body is really nice, a rodder will pay 6k for it- just the body.


chassis about 2k so the price doesnt seem bad, just depends what you are getting.

Yep, not a lot to a roadster body so a hobbyist with decent experience should be able to differentiate a car built from bondo from a nice rust free body. Look for filler on lower edges in front of and behind doors. If the car has it's top and other things like bumpers, etc. That is a big plus. If all that is missing is front fenders I would say that is a very good price. Work you describe is not what was done years ago so what was done may be recent in relative terms. Expect to do a lot more but these are great fun. You can take car in a couple different directions, generally a good market for roadsters if you ultimately find it is not for you. But a nice switch from 60s or 70s cars. Good luck.

No matter how you figure the total investment for a put together/restoration is going to be much more than a good near points car. Add many $'s and hours of labor for a cheap car. Near or points car you will be ready to go - in most cases. Have a experienced "A"er look at both first.

I had a rodder offer me $5000 for a Tudor body and I would keep the rest. Didn't do it but probably should have taken the offer, I don't like to see originals go to the "scrap" yard.

four years ago I sold a 4 door body and chassis for 5k. I got to keep the wheels seats and fenders......


point is, rodders pay more.

If all is as described, I'd say $6500 is a good price. Make sure all the small stuff is there. That can run you a lot of money to replace.
