Heater in a 35 cabriolet I will be installing a heater in a 35 Cabriolet.
Does anyone have pictures of how the install comes together and what is needed in the engine bay? |

All the installation instructions i have seen are for later years. Here is the 45 sheet if it is of any help. Here is a second one for a 39-40, a little closer in time.

Re: Heater in a 35 cabriolet For my 39 pickup, somebody previously did the instal. Waterline from the passenger head plug and the driver side bottom hose. Water shut off is on the passenger side at the head. Even with the hose shutoff off, hot water gets into the heater and the cab gets too hot.
So I wire-tied a short section of smaller hose on the water line just to have it handy. In the summer the hoses to the heater are removed from the heater and run together. |

It would make sense to feed off of the right upper hose and the lower right hose only because the heater is on the right. |

Re: Heater in a 35 cabriolet With age comes wisdom, I like to think. My '37 had a little square hot water heater mounted in the center of the car, just forward of the shift lever. The heater worked pretty well, but whoever installed it thought there should be an extra 4 or 5 approximately 3/4" diameter holes in the dash panel (firewall) than were needed for the installation. I think it was his idea of "fresh" air ventilation, from the engine compartment. I have since replaced that section of the dash panel and have no plans to drill any extra holes in it, see my avatar. I also don't plan to install a heater in the car.
Make a template to show where you plan to drill holes. I would make the template the same size as the profile of the heater. On the 35 model cars, you should be able to mount a heater in the middle of the dash panel or on the passenger side. Use your template to decide on the best location for the heater. Do you also plan to install defroster ducting? The ducting could also affect your decision on heater placement. Good luck with your project. |

Thanks everyone for your help.
I thought I would show pictures of my heater install. Hope this will help others in the future. The Switch was mounted on the dash, it is an old-style push-pull that says heater. |
