Re: 1953/56 power steering I don't know anything about it, but if the seller is trying to talk you out of buying it you should probably heed them. If they think it's junk why do they catalog it?

Re: 1953/56 power steering I'm inclined to agree with Dobie, but a little different reason. I went and looked at the mid 50's site. Most of the power kits are conversions to modern boxes (rebuilt Toyota), and the ram system I found (wrong price, might be wrong one) is kind of a cobble. It says it was only a "big" truck" option at the time. Ram systems tend to be leak prone and vague on center compared to modern systems. I drove a lot of them, and I'm still working on a couple of them. Might just be they get a lot of complaints from people who expect a modern feel. Could be a bump steer problem. Who knows? If you're set on one, I'd ask them why the don't recommend it, and consider the alternatives they offer if they give good reasons.

Re: 1953/56 power steering If I were looking for P/S today, I would look in to the under dash electric units. They are small, light, and trouble free.

Re: 1953/56 power steering I used a CPP PS steering box and a Saginaw pump with a Y block mounting kit on my '56 F100. I could not be happier

Re: 1953/56 power steering I agree with using the CPP box and saginaw pump set up , big problem is that I have column shift linkage ,
