1964 ford galxaie clutch fork ?

hello i have a 64 galaxie with a 427 and top loader 4 speed in it and i'm trying to put the correct parts on it , i put a 427 equalizer bar ,and a 427 clutch fork rod ,8" long ,but the clutch rod is about 1 1/2"inches longer than the clutch .fork

I was wondering if i have the wrong clutch fork?
The clutch fork appears to curve towards the front of the motor ,it was all rigged up when i got it ,so i'm not sure exactly what is going on .any help or pictures would be appreciated

Thanks Pete

I have run into this on Y block clutch setups.

In my case it was the throw out bearing that was longer than the original.

Might want to take a look see at how long your replacement bearing is.

i'm going thru the same situation.I've got a 63 XL conv.with a 427 and C6 and have been accumulating the 4 speed parts. The throwout bearing and the Z bar were very expensive. The clutch fork is none exsistant.I bought a clutch fork for a later model cobra jet which takes the large throwout bearing and was planning on reshaping the clutch fork.I might go with a doug nash 5 speed instead..

Milt, you mentioned the expensive Z bar. For what it's worth, the 427 Z bar was the same part number as what the 240 6 cyl. full size Ford used.

How will the ebay'rs rape the people with you mentioning things like that.

Craig,i'll have to research that, but I've already stepped up to the plate. The Z bar for the 427 is of heavier material, and the bottom arm comes off close to the center of the tube to clear the 427 header.

Are you measuring the part that sticks out the end too? The big nut and its lock nut are often half way the length of the threads, leaving one to one and a half inches south of the fork.
