Removing windshield question

2 Attachment(s)
Can the windshield on my 1929 coupe be removed without unbolting the hinge that is attached to the metal header? The visor is off, so can it be lifted up and slid out of the upper part of the hinge? I've been going through many posts and have not had it "click" in my mind yet. The bolts holding the hinge to the metal header are rusted solid, although I have used PB Blaster on them and will see if I can remove them if necessary.

Notice that the screws holding the visor were broken off. That will be another project.

If you're wanting to take just the windshield frame off, it should slide out of the tubular hinge without having to remove the upper part of the hinge. That's the way mine came off anyway. Mine is a 29 Tudor, but they seem very similar.

sometime times it take two poeple. one pushing and one pulling. when the visor is off. life it up and side it out. if the visor is on you must remove the upper hinge

I haven't gotten ready to do this yet, but when you said to "lift it up and slide it out" does that mean to slide it sideways? Or does it simply unhook from the upper hinge?

Nope should not "unhook" but should slide out. I use two people one to receive, the other to push. Some times a few wacks with a rubber mallet to get it moving. Oh and lube the hinge well before you try.
Good luck!

Make sure the end of the hinge is not too buggered up/bent to keep it from sliding out also add some lube along the inside best you can. In the photo, the end(s?) look like they are pinched shut a little.

Got the hinge removed from the header and now it was easy to slide the window frame out. Thanks.
