steering column questions Hello everyone, I don't post on here very much but I get a lot of useful information here. I have been working on a 1928 ccpu off and on for a few years and today I started working on the steering column. The steering wheel is in bad shape so I took it off and it took me about an hour. I would like to find a good original steering wheel but I don't know what type I need and I'm not sure if it is a 2 tooth or seven. I am going to try to post some pictures. Thanks guys, Scott.

Re: steering column questions Just do not grease that even though it has a grease zerk on it.. You have to use same 600 wt gear oil as you would use in transmission.

Re: steering column questions I just refurbished a 7 tooth column for my 29 fordor (even though what came out was a 2 tooth).
I understand that the 2 tooth is a more modern unit, however, the 7 tooth seemed more my speed to do a DIY refurb on. Much fewer parts, and far less expensive. If you have a '28, wouldn't the 7 tooth column be the correct column? Maybe the column you have was installed later on? |

We talk about "FARMER FIXES"----Don't forget about "WRECKING YARD FIXES"--"Yep, I'll make it fit":D Interchange Manuals came out while I worked at a wrecking yard, THEY WERE A GODSEND! Bill W. |
Re: steering column questions Oh yeah, i'm no exception! Like i said, i'm putting a 7 tooth column in my April or '29 fordor
I got this car, found a rubber washer floating in the main jet, nut/bolts holding the brake rods on, 2x4s holding up the roof... Right now my ignition switch is a push/pull switch, which was an upgrade to my previous redneck fix: a house switch. (pictured below) http://hotco.co/modela/wp-content/up...21-225x300.jpg |
