Three point seat belts on 46 coupe
 

I purchase a pair of B pillar brackets from Juliano's as seen here.

I installed them using a measurement from my 94 Ford F150. SInce installing them I have installed the headliner so there is no going back. As you can see in the 2nd photo that the hole for the receiver bolt is partially blocked by the surround trim for the quarter window. My question is has others ran into this before and, if so, how did you solve the problem? I would hate to cut some of the trim on the quarter window but have have to.

Sounds like you already know your options. If you can live with it, trim the garnish. If you can't, pull the headliner back in that spot and relocate the bracket.

Could you install that anchor plate higher up so there is no interference?
Just an inch or two. Or,drill and tap the hole so it's centered on the B pillar away from the molding. Can you move the plate so the hole is away from the garnish molding?

Or, make the anchor plate longer so you can drill and tap a hole higher up in the plate.

Custom make a new anchor plate. Maybe it could be slightly thinner so it will slide over. It takes a lot of force to pull a bolt out of a threaded hole.

Use a smaller dia washer and a socket head cap screw?

If there was a way to protect your new headliner from sparks and heat you could actually weld the plate in a new position.

Before I post this I did a search and found the attached photo. I did not install my interior lights on the post and might be able to move this it up. I'm not sure how effective the seat belts would be in an accident though.

I am not an expert, but I think you might be safer with the anchor plate relocated higher up as ,I think, the forward trajectory of the wearer's body would be lessened.

It looks like the seat belt works best when the upper attachment point causes the seat belt to cross over your shoulder, like this.

Hi Waterboychuck, I have seen that setup on a few cars in the 46-48 years. With the setup on #4 I think would work out fine.

This '46 setup looks a little different than yours,
Did you use the helper strap bolt location to position the belt anchor plate?
It appears that in this pic. that if the strap location was used, the only issue would be to add a spacer plate between the belt loop and body to raise the belt loop above the garnish molding.
