search V-8 times for an article by Mark S. Kicsak on adj. 41 ford hoods. is a while back. I assume your Monarch is pretty close to 41-48 fords

remember moving the hinges up on the firewall lowers the hood

I changed the hinge and spring new pulled hinge up high as i can same 2 inches at back i give up till i get more info.

The Monarch cars were pretty much same as the Mercury cars post war but there was some of similarity to the Ford cars in the 42 thru 48 years.
