Dick Spadaro shop closed
 

I talked to Bill ,Dick's assistant last Thursday and he said that this past Friday 10-4-14 will be the last day open of Dick's shop.
If fact it is the last day of Bill's employment with Dick .He said Dick is still in the hospital & failing.
I have great respect for Dick & I can honestly say they ( both Dick & Bill have treated me very well) over the years . Their knowledge will be greatly missed . Good luck to both of them

Very sad to hear this. The whole thing about Dick's health is very sad. He used to be a very active member of this forum.

Very sad situation. Both Dick and Bill would go to great lengths to take care of their customers. Good people like them are rare these days. I'll miss them both. Ray

Visited with Bill recently and it was going one of the most difficult things he has ever done to close the shop for good. Dick and Bill had worked very closely together for a long time. Bill had to take opportunity when it was there, so closing was inevitable. Short of a miracle Dick will not be returning. He was a good friend who visited my shop many times and bought product from me even though I was in the midwest. I will miss my visits with Dick and Bill. We can only wish Bill the best and pray for Dick.

I'm very sorry to hear about dicks health,I was saddened when I heard about it months ago,he's a great guy to talk with,always helpful. But what it really means is that there is another vendor gone from our traditional way of building cars. The parts,the source,the knowledge,if this keeps occurring,with no one taking over the reigns,we will be left with pimple faced kids trying to sell us the wrong parts,or wanting to look up parts for a car that's been obsolete for fifty years! Sad days indeed!

Dick proved a tremendous resource for several projects that entered my garage. He has a lot of friends in this community.

I used to drive by the shop on the way to Thatcher Park, it's so sad that Dick is very ill, what we need now is a miracle.

Sad, sad situation. Dick and Bill are both good guys that were always helpful and more than patient with many, many newcomers. Loved seeing them at York.
Prayers for Dick, family, and friends. Best of luck to Bill in the future and many thanks for his past help as well.

These two men were so helpful and great to do business with too. I'm glad I was able to just stop in at anytime. They will be missed in the hobby and the neighborhood. May Dick not suffer and the best to Bill in his new home !

A friend of mine called there yesterday about getting some parts for a quick change he bought from Dick a couple years ago. He spoke with a relative of Dick (nephew I believe) who is taking care of closing the business down and selling off all the stock. He told my friend that Dick is now in a nursing home.

Just to let people know, Dick has been placed in a nursing facility. I explained that Dick has touched many people and the hobby and asked what we could do and a family member said to send cards of encouragement to him. Please send cards to his business shop at Dick Spadaro Early Ford Reproductions 6599 NY Route 158 Altamont NY 12009. Mail is picked up there for him and he will get them.
