1937 Cam Regrinding

Can the stock 37 ford cam be reground close to an isky max1 3/4 cam ? Or what is a good sounding cam for a 21stud motor that will have sharp heads on it. Thanks all.

I don’t see why not. I have re-ground several of those early cams to my KiWi-L100 specs.

just curious, Does the cam you have ,has apressed on timing gear.????? Most any cam Grind can be put on a stock cam. Which brings up the application and cost. When re grinding a stock cam, you will have to use adjustable lifters, or longer valves. Also in a stock engine, longer duration reduces low end torque The 77B is very much like a stock grind$$$$$ for changing the cam you must have a good reason.

Re: 1937 Cam Regrinding

Ron I’m going with the 1007B cam. The cam I believe is the press on timing gear. With that cam it will have Sharp heads and dual carb intake. Im on the fence on the adjustable lifters, if i run them I will have to make jam nuts for them or just get longer valves and cut them to what I will need.

Re: 1937 Cam Regrinding

The 1007B is a really good cam - you'll like it in that engine! I tend to run Chevy valves - as I like the longer length. I then make custom spacers for the guides (depending on the cam, springs and how much spring pressure I want on the seat).

Kiwi. Repop from h&h. I believe they are about 8:1 compression ratio.

Well if I come across someone wanting to give up Evans or cyclone 21 stud heads instead of letting them sit on their shelf I’ll take those too. Hahah.

Yo Kiwi . . . what do you know about the early block letter Sharp heads? I've never researched them -- was wondering when they were made and if they're rare to any degree.

Happy TurkeyDay to Yah!

JT you’re half way there you have Cyclone heads rebadged with Sharp name.
My super popular KiWi-L100 cam originated from your great state of Rhode Island.

G’day Dale well I have a bunch of paperwork from Wilcap that made Sharp products after Al stopped. I have articles with them in late 40,s magazines but what is interesting is the differences in the several sets of Block Letter heads in particular the temp gauge bosses some straight up some angled. I believe they a somewhat rare. Unfortunately Al passed 6 weeks before I was to meet him. I have struggled to find a whole lot of info on his products or what all he made.
And a Happy Turkey day to yourself.
Cheers
Tony
