Put remote coil back still no spark

https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=296777
I put the remote coil setup that was on my car when I bought it back on, still no spark. I do have 6 volts to the coil. So the only thing that has not been replaced is the distributor. With the remote coil or Skips rebuilt coil and Tubman’s condenser I have no spark. Can I put 6 volts on either coil and put the neon timing light on the high tension side of the coil and ground the other side of the timing light should I be able to get a spark even without condenser.?

My next step is to pull the distributor and send it to get rebuilt.

I would have preferred you to keep posting on the original discussion rather than starting a new one.

Have you confirmed that the points are making and breaking contact as the distributor is rotated? A coil relies on opening and closing the primary circuit to generate a spark. I hope you find the issue.

Re: Put remote coil back still no spark

If you have 6V on the red power wire to the distributor and with the spark plug wires removed, car in neutral, with E brake on, turn the engine over by hand and watch the voltmeter, if it goes to 3 or 4 volts eight times with two revolutions of the crank your distributor is working . The points are opening and closing, you should have spark, if the rotor and inner distributor caps are good. This does not check timing or advance which are also functions of the distributor. If the voltage stays at 6V the distributor needs work and has to be removed from the engine.

Got my distributor rebuilt by CharlieNY, left the remote coil and a new NAPA condenser on from my previous attempts to troubleshoot. Car fired up strong, backed it out of the garage and took it for a mile or so ride, ran great no misfires. Next I will put Tubman’s condenser back on and go for another ride.
