Tube shock mounts

Hi Gents-

I'm converting a '46 frame to '48 tube shocks. I'd like to know the
distance, in inches, between the upper rear mounting studs, and are they
parallel to the centerline of the frame?

Thanks in advance,

R Sullivan Mi.

Ray, their should be a hole in the rear cross member about 6 inches in from the side rails. It goes all the way through the member, that is where the upper rear mount goes.

Although my 48 had lever shocks, it looks like the holes that flathead48 mentions are visible in the attached picture of my crossmember. The Posies spring kit I am using has an upper shock mount that needs to be welded, but I'd like to see if I can find and use an original upper mount using those holes.

I had a machine show make me upper mounts. They have to go through the cross member and secured from back side. I have a rough drawing that I made up for the machinist . Any one who wants a copy just pm me with your email. My 48 was equipped with lever type shocks I converted both front and rear.
