1931 Model A - Powdercoat Color Yellow? Can someone help me on this.... I want to powdercoat the wheels on my 1931 Ford Model A. The body is green/ fenders are black and I am thinking of going w/yellow rims. What color yellow is most recommended and most widely used for rims on '31. Thanks so much! I am new to this forum and hope this is posted correctly. Nancy

Re: 1931 Model A - Powdercoat Color Yellow? If you are interested in 'stock' Model A colors..... .. Wheels usually will be the color of the pinstripe.... and for a 31... er, what type of 31?
Aw, what the hay... Just make it look nice. Old Ivory is a nice 'yellowish' color that offset with the green body. |
Re: 1931 Model A - Powdercoat Color Yellow? Here is "green" with "yellow".....
The colors are supposedly called Balsam Breen on the lower, Valley Green on the upper and Old Ivory on the pin stripe and wheels. |

Here are my wheels with Yellow on them, In fact I used the Yellow form Harbor Freight and the Gun from HF. Going on 5 years now and the Gloss and Finish holding up Great. The one Picture taken opposite the Sun makes them look Orange, but they are Yellow. I sandblasted the wheels and Powder coated them myself, using a old electric oven out in the Garage.

Re: 1931 Model A - Powdercoat Color Yellow? I have looked at the HF Powders with some interest, I just wish they had more than 4 primary colors, and no they cannot be blended to fill out the spectrum.

Red Yellow Blue and ? I give what's the 4th primary? |
Re: 1931 Model A - Powdercoat Color Yellow? Depends on your color model... CMYK?

Re: 1931 Model A - Powdercoat Color Yellow? I first tried Caswel and then Eastwood powders. Only black though.
Then I spent the extra $$ for Tiger Drylac. Night and day difference, I strongly suggest you buy the Tiger Drylac powders. They go on nicer and look better when done. I am using the Caswel gun which works and I will not go much further on that. To get a better gun I think you have to spend a lot more money. Way more then the powder you waste by using the cheaper gun if you are not doing much work. |

Re: 1931 Model A - Powdercoat Color Yellow? Coincidently I am trying to match a power coat color to my Model A's Thorne Brown body color. I have a new windshield frame that I want to match the body. The power coater showed me some samples and RAL 8014 looks close. The car is now in winter storage and will not be available until March. Is any cross reference material available

Re: 1931 Model A - Powdercoat Color Yellow? If you are near a Les Schwab tire store check out their powder coat color choices. I had mine done in the yellow color and it looks just like the original color that was on the wheels when I bought the car. They bead blasted and powder coated for $30 a wheel and they look fantastic

Re: 1931 Model A - Powdercoat Color Yellow? Wow...Les Schwab looks to be west coast mostly...nothing in NM or west Texas. Wonder if they would accept shipment and ship back fished wheels?
Locally, they want $95 a wheel, plus blasting. |
Re: 1931 Model A - Powdercoat Color Yellow? try www.modelawheelcolors.com
I used their tacoma cream on my wheels. if I remember correctly 5 pounds did 8 wheels. great stuff and no problems with the order. I am told the color is spot on |
Re: 1931 Model A - Powdercoat Color Yellow? Not sure if this will help you, but the wheels and accent stripe on my 1930 Town Sedan are painted the Straw color, and I am showing a photo of one of my wheels. I believe this is a pretty accurate rendition of Straw. The Tacoma Cream is not really yellow, but more of a true cream color.

Re: 1931 Model A - Powdercoat Color Yellow? You can always check out Eastwood for their pc supplies and colors. I'd bet they would work in a HF gun, too, but not 100% sure.
