Oil pan what to do?

I performed an enginectomy this afternoon so I could fix the leaky oil pan. I removed the ‘53 Merc from my 1939 Tudor standard with no drama. Now I am looking for and tips or information on things to do while I am at this stage. The motor ran smoothly and didn’t smoke. It had good oil pressure according to the old aftermarket mechanical gauge and the new electric gauge. The front rope seal was not leaking. The rear on the other hand was a gusher.

I noticed the bolt holes on the pan protruding from the gasket surface. I am assuming this is not the way they should be. Do I tap them back flat and should I install rectangular washers?

The pan has no windage tray. Is this normal for this engine?

I also need to fix the dipstick tube leak and plan on making a plate with threaded holes for the inside as someone else did on the forum. Would regular gasket material work?

Any information would be appreciated
