In addition to my "Trash Can" condensers, I have available an electronic device that allows just about any current 12 volt negative ground tachometer to be run on a 6 volt positive ground vehicle. It is simple to install and connect and will drive just about any tachometer from a $10 "swap meet special" to a $600 Autometer with memory and playback. These have been extensively tested and have proved accurate and reliable. They have sophisticated circuitry to "clean up" the power anomalies present in vintage vehicle electrical systems. In comes with a comprehensive instruction and installation manual.

Here is a link to a short video of the device in action : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaxpuDkWAqc.

Here are pictures on the device mounted on the firewall of my 1951 Ford Club Coupe and a picture of the Sun-Pro tachometer head I have mounted on the steering column. The third picture is of a high-end "Mooneyes" tachometer in a '49 Plymouth using the same device.

They are available to board members at $125 plus $8 domestic shipping. You can PM me here or email me at [email protected] if interested.

Re-lining and re-furbishing BRAKE DRUM service! How many of you guys have brake drums that have been turned way past the legal (and practical) 0.060" oversize? New FORD drums dried-up long ago, and GOOD, useable drums are very rare IF you do come upon them. I know that I (like a lot of you) have at least a dozen worn-out hub/drum assemblies layin' in a corner that are far beyond any realistic use. Well now there's a service in Illinois that will re-line and refurbish (make look like new) just about any kind of brake drum you can come up with, including the aluminum Buick and Pontiac units. J&G BRAKE DRUM RELINING AND REFURBISHING is the name of this most valuable service.

I almost forgot to mention that these guys also arc brake shoes!! Click the link below! DD

I wonder if they could reline 33 rear drums?

I'll bet that's why they included their phone number on their web site. I'd also bet that if you call that number ( (815) 276-2578 ), they would likely tell you "yes"...or "no"! I can't imagine why they couldn't, though. Ain't nothin' that special about a '33 rear drum. Click on THIS link below for pictures of some of the REALLY weird drums they've redone. DD

From the photos on the site, it looks like they specialize putting new steel liners in aluminum drums. Steel drums are a whole different kettle of fish. You better check. Report back what you find out.

Even if they do, I expect it to be an expensive process. Eight lug Pontiacs are something special.

Just got off the phone with this folks, very nice, by the way. Yes, they do reline cast iron 33 ford drums, around $325 to $350 per drum, back to new specs. They also offer shoe arching and rivet/bonded shoes. 4 to 5 week turnaround as of right now.
