More times than not, problems with horns are usually caused by a wiring issue. Poor connections, old and frayed wires, etc....Just my experiences....

My horn recently broke on a 1933.
I opened up the cover and saw that the condenser "capacitor" lead was broken. I re-soldered it and now it works fine. Open the cover..there is only one screw right on top.

The red arrow points to the Condenser..look to see if any wires from this component or others visible are broken as a first step in troubleshooting.

Does anyone know, are the new stock replacement horns from C&G and others any good? I know there expensive ( $150 e) but maybe worth it if well built? Let us know how you make out with Bill Randall if you use him.

Personally, I think you would be better off buying an original horn.
I remember seeing that these replicas need an extra horn relay to run?
Not sure why? But I would look for an original.. Only get a replica if you cannot find an original.
I have often seen an original working horn selling for 60$..sure beats a replica.
In fact, if you have an truly broken horn that has major problems..It my be a better road for you to by an original replacement rather than getting your horn fixed.

I would rather have originals and repair as necessary.

The new China horns have different, cheapened internals and are not wired correctly. I went through this with a '35 Fordor that I did a bunch of work on last year that had new horns on it. As they come the horns are wired to be controlled by a relay and also were not properly insulated so they both had a direct short to the horn body. I had to correctly insulate them and change the wire connection arrangement in them so that they would work off of the original button.

They sound terrible, too.

If they don't sound like the original..They are junk..I would never consider them..Rather have no horn.
A while back I sent a brief video of my car running to an author I know who writes books about the Dillinger era. They were especially impressed of the sound of my horn. Everyone knows about the aohhhga horns of the Model A but few people realize that the later horns of the 30's have a very unique sound of all their own.
