It's a Vermont plate from '52, '54, or '56

Re: Model A - 2 bucks Wow. I never thought of using the front fenders for hauling game.
tons of old photos showing that. People were at one time "practical" today one needs to spend 60k for a pu with a 3 1/2 foot bed! |
Re: Model A - 2 bucks It has later Ford wheels and the fittings on that bumper seem to indicate it had some sort of tow bar set up. The BLC head lights are also from a later time. The quality of the photo and the young lady's attire seem to indicate the late 1940s up through the late 50s. Roadsters were inexpensive cars back in the day and would have made a fairly decent hunting wagon as an older used car.

Re: Model A - 2 bucks Ronn, I remember in the 50's and 60's in the little town I grew up in, cars would drive thru on their way to the local Hardware store at the end of Main St where they would check the deer. There would be carcasses strapped to the front fenders and also across the back bumpers, some on the roof. It was 'social hour' at the store with many guys going there dressed in CarHarts just hanging out to see the game that was brought in. That was a big deal back then.
And I'm with you, a new high dollar pickup with an extremely short bed makes no sense to me either! |
Re: Model A - 2 bucks Headlights look wrong? any idea what they are?

Guide, aka BLC, aftermarket replacements with the parking light on top. I think they also were OEM on some non-Ford trucks. They've been around since the 30s and became sealed beams at some point. They're reproduced. More info here: http://www.hotroddisorder.com/ |
