Emergency Brake Boot When I removed the carpet so that I could remove the floorboard, I had to arm wrestle with the emergency brake boot to free it from the carpet. I’m getting ready to but the carpet back down.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...1b8515b30f.jpg What is the best way to get the boot back where it needs to be in the carpet? There has to be a better way... Should I remove the emergency brake handle and slide the boot off? Maybe I’m missing something. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Emergency Brake Boot I believe the carpet is supposed to be on top of the boot if that makes sense, so you can just slide the carpet on top of it. Unless I am misunderstanding the question?

Re: Emergency Brake Boot This one is a really tight fit. The previous owner had the carpet just above the final rectangular flat part of the boot. I hesitate to make the carpet hole bigger—I don’t want the carpet to fray.

Re: Emergency Brake Boot It's rubber, be the boss! You can't hurt it.

Well... that was way I got off in the first place. I was just home there was a more “graceful” way to do it. ;-) I did buy a spare boot. I just don’t want to tear up the carpet. I thought there might be a technique that I was missing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Emergency Brake Boot Try putting some Dawn/water on the boot to make the carpet slide down easier.

Re: Emergency Brake Boot Vaseline is an option, just don't let anyone see you lubing up that rubber. :D

Re: Emergency Brake Boot FYI, although you probably know this, the Model A originally came with no boot on either the parking brake or the gearshift lever.

Re: Emergency Brake Boot I just installed my floor boards and used spray silicone on the boots, it worked great they slid right on no problem.
