Coker Excelsior Radial Tires
 

I am thinking about ordering the Coker Excelsior Stahl Sport Radials for my 1937 pickup. I would like a big and little look, and was thinking 500 R16 front and 700 R16 rear or 750 R16. There is a big difference in diameter between the last two. anyone have experience with these tires and would the larger size look okay in the back?

I've had them on several cars and they work great. As far as size I ran a 235/85/16 which is the same as a 7.50 on the back of my 32 pickup and it really filled fender. You need to check your wheel opening to see of the 7.50 will fit. I currently have 2 cars with the Excelsior 5.00/16 and 7.50/16 combo and I love the look. Definitely bigs and littles.

Yep. These are really nice tires. Probably going with something similar on my '35 pickup if I ever get there.

37 truck, I ran Diamondback 5.50R-16's front and 7.50R-16's rear for several years on my 35 fordor sedan with totally stock suspension including the original height. I ran this combo at least 12,000 miles, that included a 7200 mile crosscountry trip in 2013, with no real problems. Although when I removed them in 2014, I did notice there was just a very slight kiss of a rub between rear tires and inner fender panels, that probably occured while traveling some rough terrain or hitting some heavy bumps or deep potholes.

Edit: This doesn't address your question on the Coker Excelsior brand tires, but maybe helps some on your decision between 7.00 vs. 7.50 rear tire size. BTW, I paid a lot less for these Diamondback radials than Coker is asking for their Excelsior brand radial tires and IMO these Diamondbacks look as good as the Excelsior or maybe even a little better.

If you run tubes, make sure that you specific offset stems!

This was the last rig I saw with them on.. Personally I think they look quite different and I didn't like them, maybe Im just so used to seeing my Firestones..

I have them on my Model A and they have completely transformed the car. Steering is so much easier and the car tracks like a modern. I am considering using them on my 1934 -However the cost is an issue and given the fact that radials are freely available for the V8 wheels (as opposed to the Model A wheels) I'm not sure -Karl

I think the look vintage and modern at the same time. I know that contradictory statements, but it seems like sneaks go a long way to bring our cars into the modern world.
