Model A lubrication chart Anyone have a usable/readable (for these old eyes) of the Model A lubrication chart?
Can't seem to find one online that I can zoom in on and read clearly. Also having problem visualizing location: (from pg14 of model A instruction book) *Approximately every 2000 miles, lubricate the clutch release bearing. This is done by removing the hand hole cover and turning the bearing until the lubricator fitting is at the top. Lubricate the bearing by means of the compressor grease gun. What's the hand hold cover and where's that bearing? |
Re: Model A lubrication chart Going to Okemah this weekend, may stop by and help you identify the lubricating locations, thanks, Joe in Denver

Re: Model A lubrication chart I bought the large lube chart at a national meet, but I think all the parts houses sell it also. It's nice to frame and hang on the garage wall.

I believe this statement is referring to the early cars that used the multi-disk clutch. The clutch release bearing (throw-out bearing) had the grease fitting in the bearing and you had to rotate the bearing in order to get at the grease fitting. The hand hole cover must be a reference to the little removable plate on the top of the bell housing. Tom Endy |

I'll PM you and maybe we can still do this on both our schedules. Keith |
Re: Model A lubrication chart According to the V8 service bulletins Ford changed to a sealed throwout bearing starting in 1935, so if your bearing has been changed since 1935 it is probably a sealed bearing anyway.

Re: Model A lubrication chart And remember, if you have your sealed T.O. Brg out, they can be re-packed with a wheel bearing packer. I even re-pack a NEW one. Sometimes the Factory Grease is like VASOLINE!

Re: Model A lubrication chart I often pop the seal off one side of a sealed bearing, so I can check the amount of grease. Quite often there's barely enough to smear on a fingertip. In other words many rebuilt parts have just enough grease to make it to the end of the warranty.

Re: Model A lubrication chart A Fresnel (sp) lens is your friend, or a magnifying glass.
