Rear brake drum studs repl

How difficult is it to replace the wheel studs in the rear brake drum? Tools required, etc. Are there some replacement studs better than others?
Thanks for all inputs.

Tooling and 20 ton press. Find someone that has done it before not somebody that "thinks they can do it".

Ditto on finding someone who knows what they are doing.
Do you have steel drums or cast iron ones? I'm not sure new studs are made for steel drums any more but the longer ones for cast iron can be modified to fit. When it comes to removing the old studs, DON'T just drive them out of the hub - you'll ruin it. You must cut away the old swage first, then they will come out with little resistence.

A brake shop that works on big trucks can do the job.

My local automotive machine shop who does a lot of our local collector cars did mine when I switched from steel to cast iron drums. He's one of those who does know how to do it and has the press to do it.

I agree with others here in saying that you have to have the big press or you are just wasting your time.
