Thanks for posting that, Glynn. The later photos where he has done some work on the panels shows he is capable enough to turn out a decent car.

Re: Restoration in India

They refer to body work as "tinkering", That's pretty much what body work amounts to. Slow and tedious. It appears that these guys are hand fabricating and welding patches in fenders and body panels where rusted out. Yeah, I'm impressed as well. Been there done that, and it ain't easy. Would love to see more progress photos as work proceeds.

Mike, you can scroll down and in the right bottom there are page numbers from 1 to 5, I think. Each page represents progress and you can see the finished car in the last page.

I wonder if anybody has called him to sell him an extended warranty?

That looks like an XK 120 jag under the car cover.

Thanks Stretch. Looked over all 6 pages of photos. They fabricated their own front bumper from stainless. Local radiator shop made an all new radiator that actually fit. Nothing stops these guys when used parts availability is probably nil in India. Lovely standard Phaeton in the end.

Re: Restoration in India

They are very skilled metal workers in India .Look how they transformed those fenders!!

I sent some RHD parts to a guy in India a couple years ago. He said the import duty on antique car parts was 400 per cent We complain about 20 percent in the UK

Re: Restoration in India

400 percent... why would they punish people like that for crying out loud:eek:

Those guys did a really nice job on the car! They started out with a pretty rough one. Skilled indeed.

Small world - I am good friends with someone from Jaipur who is related to these guys. I remember her showing me a photo of this phaeton. Yes, amazing work from what that car started out as! She is letting them know their story made it to USA on Fordbarn. Perhaps he'll join Fordbarn and say "hi" - would be fun to have a member from India if there isn't already since so many other countries are represented here on Fordbarn!

It is amazing what they did with that car. I love the before and after photos. It was also pretty cool that he used the phaeton model to get an idea for the final paint color.

Heck, I've parted out a few cars that these guys could have turned into very respectable Model A's. Great work.

There were also some pretty nice unrestored vehicles next to the Phaeton in the garages. So nice to see that out hobby knows no boundaries.

Congrats to the owner and the team on a fine restoration.

Dean
