Have you spoken with Jim at Truly Vintage?? 260-804-6695

The last I heard he was out in California right now. Don't know what he has scheduled but maybe it will work for you.

I do not know Jim at Truly Vintage and have never done business with him, if you google his phone number, you will get several interesting stories from unhappy customers.
Why does he never give out his last name or address? That is a huge red flag that would make me run from him.
Perhaps someone that has done business with him can comet if there experience was good or bad.

I have always had great success with Intercity Lines and Passport Transport. They might cost a little more but they provide great service and they are insured. Their drivers are top notch and understand how to treat vintage cars. Many smaller carriers are not insured, so, make sure you obtain proof of insurance before you chose.

Most really good haulers are filled up about 6 weeks in advance. Check out the haulers on the H.A.M.B O'Dex (think roll-a-dex card file) here http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/f...a-m-b-odex.12/. Those with good reviews include BenD, RacinRick, Bill's Auto Transport, Freighter Jim (on Ahoooga) and Passport Transport. Don't pick on basis of lowest price. For $100 dollars or so difference, pick on reputation. Think about a tip based upon their communications with you, their courtesy on both ends, the distance travelled, the condition of the car when delivered, their ability to meet their chosen delivery date, etc. Go enclosed: you don't want a roadster with the top or wind-wings ripped off, etc. These comments are not meant to slight other haulers whom I am not familiar with. Good luck!

Freighter Jim on Ahooga always speaks about hi upcoming travel plans. His enclosed trailer looks nice. No clues as to cost.

Interesting, I can only find two first hand reports of problems and those seem to be the exact same story (the same guy twice?). All the others seem to a friend of a friend and I've heard that.

He sure seems to be on the road a lot and for quite a few years to be a scam artist. Just my opinion.

Load the "Uship" app on your phone if able or Google "Uship". It will give you a average price to ship what from location to location. You then add your info and people bid on your shipment. They have options for insurance as well. Worked well for me shipping a engine.

I did the same thing with the same results.

X2 on the last statement as well.

Re: Need to Ship a 1931 Model A Coupe

I can speak as one person that has used Jim, and will continue to use him again. This online rating system is a joke IMHO because there is no accountability or provenience where the accusations are proved or disproved. For example, I have eaten at restaurants in the past where afterwards I read negative social media comments and thought to myself how that comment wasn't what I experienced. The same with movie critics publishing how a movie was awful, yet when myself and a group of friends watched it, we thought it was great.

So with regard to Jim, all I can say is call him and speak with him about your needs and concerns, ...and if you don't feel comfortable afterwards, then find someone else that makes you happy. As a second side of that, consider taking additional steps to protect yourself in whomever you use. If you are worried about a financial loss, then take out a policy that will make you whole financially in the event of a casualty. If you are afraid of your vehicle becoming stolen or missing, have a satellite asset tracker installed prior to the shipping company picking it up. These units are around $50, and you can follow your vehicle's whereabouts by an app on your phone.

I have used Jim- truly vintage, I can say with 100% certainty he is top notch. I recommend him to anyone looking for hauling. He provides a fantastic service. My seller was a bit difficult to set things up with, vehicle was actually at a different location than we thought, day of pick up I could not get ahold of seller and was having a great deal of anxiety. Jim took care of making contact and different pick up location didn't phase him. He gave many updates befor during and after pickup and continued to update on the journey to my place. He doesn't drive in inclement weather, and I don't believe he drives at night. I could not have been more pleased.

I will add there is some guy who's life's work is to bash Jim, for what reason I do not know or care. This fellow contacted me a few times and is clearly off his rocker. don't believe everything you read on the internet....

Hi Steve,

I have hauled for you and a lot of other folks here.

I am quoting your post because it states actual truth - not alternative internet facts.

Before Ryan acquired Ford Barn - if anyone still remembers when Miss Shelly had it & Chevy Barn - I ran little box ads offering transport at the top.

I have had my website since 2006.

I am a current member of the MTFCA - MTFCI - HCCA - AACA - Space Coast T's.

I have been a paid sponsor of moparts.com for the last (6) years.

I have safely transported at least (5) vehicles for the MTFCA Museum over the years.

I just spent a couple days at the Bakersfield Swap Meet live streaming videos for those who could not attend.

In the real world - where I live every day - Life is Great .... :D

I have used Bill's Auto Works and if you look in the HAMB-o-Dex you'll see he has 100's of positive, and zero negative, ratings.

Where are you shipping this car from and to? Do you want a closed or open trailer?

I agree with post #13. Jim was there when he said he would be, handled everything professionally. My brother in Florida made all the arrangements and delivery was flawless.
