:D This was the getaway car used by Bonnie & Clyde on 11-22-33 near Sowers Texas . They were attempting to have a family party but law enforcement knew of it and had an ambush setup . The four guys in the other pic opened fire on them but they escaped with lacerations and a flat rear tire . Ted Hinton is the guy in the center of the pic with the lighter colored hat . He was the guy that took the movie at the time of their deaths . All the stuff on the table came out of the 5 w . This is the car in the pic :o{ that i can't figure out how to get from a book to a computer }:o of them with a black 33 coupe behind them and the 33 locking spare cap in plain sight . The film that pic was on was recovered from this car - might have been in her camera ? Don't remember . The second pic is after recovery as Bonnie & Clyde were not seriously hurt and escaped . This is also the car that taught law enforcement that " Tommy Guns " weren't much good against the sturdy steel of the Ford bodies . Next time they used 30.06 BAR 's with armor piercing rounds . We all know how that turned out  . Anyway does anyone have any more info on this car ? Pics ? I would think this 5w would be in the running for one of the most expensive 33 ' s due to it's fascinating history :D David J

Actually, standard 5W coupes were more common than deluxes. In 1933, domestic production of standard V8 5W coupes was 27,473 to the 11,731 deluxe V8 5W coupes. In 1934, standard V8 5Ws again outnumbered deluxe V8 5Ws, 51,487 to 28,393.

It would be interesting to know if it's still around. They were making a getaway in another '33 standard 5W that they stole in Oklahoma and plunged it into the Red River around Wellington, TX. Flattop Bob in Wellington says the car stayed around in Wellington for a while after being repaired and then was sold and disappeared 40 years ago. Bob says the lady at the scene that was shot in the hand used to make cookies for his Dad when he was a kid. Here is some info and pics:

It sold reciently at the Barrett-Jackson Auction on TV and still had the bullet hole. It had been cleaned up and as I remember had been on display in a meseum.

Sounds like the 30 A coupe Dillinger used in a getaway. They left a hole unrepaired and it sold on barret-jackson . Need more info on this

:D Found some more pics of it . I always assumed these pics were of the ambush car as the film came out of that car . Randy supplied info on the other 33 std 5w they stole and destroyed . That's it with it's owner in pic 5 and pic 4 is it after Clyde was done with it . Anyone have more info on either of these 5w's ? Like Dillinger cars there must have been police records of the serial #'s . :D David J

Post 7 shows the car that was crashed by clyde and bonnie got burnt in . The man in the suit is the lawful owner and as you can see it was a little worse for the wear after clyde drove it . Looks like they use a model A for this in the movie . The historical accuracy is appalling to say the least in the first half of this new movie . Hopefully it will get better .
