Wiring harness question I need to install a wiring harness in my car. I am confused on which one to get. The car is a 29 Leatherback, single bulb headlights, and no cowl lights. My confusion comes in here. It seems that I can't find any harness for a single bulb headlight, without cowl lights. Am I missing something?

Re: Wiring harness question either the second bulb in the headlight, or the cowl lights were used for parking lights, all cars had parking lights

Re: Wiring harness question Yup, your headlights should have the second parking light bulb toward he top of the reflector.

Re: Wiring harness question Boy, now I am really confused. I just had the headlights apart, and there is only one bulb in there, with not a socket for a second bulb. It does however have high and low beams. does that make a difference?

Re: Wiring harness question Is your car is an early 1929 with the two position light switch or later
with the three position switch and TWOLITE head lamps? Maybe post a picture of your head light lens. This may be the harness you need. https://modelastore.com/electrical/w...roduct_id=4481 |
Re: Wiring harness question it has a two position switch. I will try and post picture next time I am out there. Thanks!!
That looks like that is the correct harness. Thank you so much!!! |
Re: Wiring harness question Use the harness for "with cowl lamps". It is for cars with single bulb headlights and has a pigtail for connecting the cowl lamp harness. If you have no cowl lamps just let the pigtail hang.

Re: Wiring harness question Contact Tyree Harris out of West Virginia. He makes an exact reproduction of the one that you need. The single bulb harness was used until February 1929.

Re: Wiring harness question I agree with Badpuppy. I replaced the harness in my '28 roadster last year and just clipped off the pigtail. I also needed an extension wire assembly for the drum taillight.

Re: Wiring harness question Contact Sacramento Vintage Ford. They will have exactly what you need.

Re: Wiring harness question On my '28 Leather back, have only one bulb with two filaments in the headlight(High and Low Beam). I do have cowl lights, but if you do not just leave the wire behind the kick panel. It should have a rubber covering the sleeve on that wire. Light switch has two positions to the right(High and Low headlights) and one to the left for the parking lights from the center off position.

Re: Wiring harness question There were several versions of the early headlight switch for the cars with early fluted lens headlamps before the two-lite headlamps showed up. Some folks have to use the original type contact plate in the switch to keep things original on the early model As
If your car has the dome lamp then you may need a separate single harness for that. |
Re: Wiring harness question Sacramento Vintage makes the best, most correct headlight and tail lamp looms for your car.
