Finding Canadian and Export Colours
 

The other day I spoke about Canadian Colours.

The process that I follow is to find a colour chip with the same name as the Canadian colour. Then from that chip have some paint mixed up and spray it out on a card.

The second step is to find two or three original samples on a car or a panel or part to identify that it's the right colour.

Then I try to verify the colour with other people.

So far out of the 13 colours we've been able to identify the following.

Henna Red
Classic Blue
Cameo Cream


These colours we are still trying to find.

Evergreen
Pelican Grey
Mandalay Green
Richelieu Blue
Carmine Red ( This is one I'm working on right now, I've found a chip but that's as far as I've gotten.)
Mount Vernon Green
Nankeen Brown
Mist Grey
Scarab Green
Babbit Metal

Some of the names are interesting, They kind of give you a idea of what your looking for.

The problem we have in Canada is that the records that Ford of Canada had, where lost in a fire in the early 70's. All of the archives where lost.

Good luck with your quest, This would be a great addition to our hobby. I’ve read somewhere that the same color had two different names, i.e. henna red was maroon ( just an example). Good luck to you.

Richelieu Blue this was an actual early brass car. might find this color through looking up the model of car........


just a thought.
