Identify this alternator 3 Attachment(s)
Purchased a speedster based on 1931 Model A. It has been converted to 12 volts and this is the alternator. Is this a GM 10si? Just wanting to know for future reference. It is single wire and negative ground.

Re: Identify this alternator It’s a DELCO 10Si

Re: Identify this alternator Keep in mind that a stock 10si is NOT a one wire alternator. To convert a stock 10si to a one wire requires a kit to replace the stock VR with a self exciting one...
https://alternatorparts.com/self-exc...tallation.html Unless you are trying to eliminate a couple of wires in the engine compartment, I recommend sticking with a stock 3 wire 10si. It starts charging immediately and doesn't need momentary high RPMs to excite the VR. You also get a lead to an "idiot light" (if you choose to use it) that will tell you if it fails. |
Re: Identify this alternator Thanks for confirming what it is, and thanks for letting me know that the one wire is not stock from GM. Both will be good to know should this one fail.
Thanks, Eric |
