Brakes (Again)

I am trying to get my 1929 coupe on the road. My Dad originally restored this taking the car down to the frame and back up. He gave it to me before he died and now i have repainted etc and am 90 ready to go.

I was checking the brakes to adjust them and have a questions for the experts.
Maybe some day I will know answers to my questions!

I have read the numerous posts about whether to adjust all four to lock or the rear being tighter than the front. Issue I am having is the left front spins freely and all others are tight to a varying degree. I have backed off the adjustment all the way and three of them are still not 'spinning'. No where close to it. So i have shoes rubbing the drums.

Since this has sat for several years I presume I need to pop the drums, inspect the interior and maybe lube where required? Or do you guys think it is something else.

Note the brakes probably don't even have 1 mile on them
thanks
Mike

Re: Brakes (Again)

Remove 4 pins from the front ends of the 4 service brake rods.
Adjust each wheel to lock, then back off each a few clicks.
Adjust rod ends so the pins just slide into place as you LIGHTLY pull each rod forward for fronts and rearward for the rear rods and each lever rearward for front and forward for rears. In other words you are lightly pulling out the slack in the parts by pulling them towards each other to insert the pins.
Drive and brake easy to seat all the linings. After a few hundred miles the tires should spin quite easily without dragging.
