Replated 1934 Grill

I am told that the 34 grill Chrome finish from the factory, verticle bars were only high polished on the leading edge . When having a Grill replated the bars are to brite on their sides which is not correct. Does anyone know how to solve this problem. I have thought about masking off the grill (very time consuming) Then blasting with low air pressure using the finest media that I can get. I thought that someone might have a better solution to achieve what I am trying to do. Thanks Stan

Course Scotchbrite will produce the desired satin finish on the sides of the bars and along the perimeter of the raised outer portion of the grille. To go the extra mile for originality, the area between the hood webbing and the raised portion should be painted flat black (by hand as original).

Thanks David. I never thought of Scotch Brite good idea. I planed on painting outer surface using satin black spray can. It makes all the irregularities go away. Thanks Stan (I will still mask it off to get clean edge)

I think it is "watts" process, dull nickel plating was only polished on the face of the ribs, then chromed
