Good luck. I would like to know the hours and the dollar amount when finished.

There are some people out there that would not have washed it. They seem to like the "patina" and rat turds. And they are not afraid of hantavirus.

Made me laugh when he said "looks like original paint" and " back seat is out of it". I like the 57 chevy 12v generator.

Didnt watch the rest

After the fact, however always preferred to use the shop vacuum prior to the power wash to prevent any paper documentation from getting soaked, for sure a top grade filtration mask is a must. A friend found an L.A. 1940'S news paper in his 32 cabriolet door upon dismantling & I a G.M. cigarette lighter inside the right rear quarter window access panel on a 57 Chevy, as well as a full roll of V.J. day coins (victory over Japan) in a 32 3 w coupe.

I power washed the interior of an old Studebaker a few years ago and woke up a mouse pee smell that I could never get rid of. Sold the car.

He is using the term original loosely. That engine is much later than 40. I've never used pressure wash on the old vehicles. It pushes water into places you can't get at to dry and will mix with dirt to form more rust. Initial clean up is always high pressure air nozzle and vac. My old Mercs barely even get washed. But then they never get really dirty either. Just a film of dust from sitting in the shed. I'll do a hand wash with damp shammy and then wax. Out here the cleaner the paint is , the more it attracts dust from the gravel roads.

Re: Their still out there

Ya, they’re still out there but most belong to hoarder.
They are waiting for the value to go up to some unreasonable amount. In the mean time some are rusting away.
I started restoration on a ‘39 panel truck.
The owner found a ‘38 to use for parts that we decided to restore also.
Once we got into them we had to quit because they both turned out to be junk.
When you have a quarter inch endplay in the cluster gear because the case is worn and the .060” overbored engines are so full of rust you can’t put a quart of coolant in them with the heads on or off and the rear axles need sleeves and the carbs are gone and everything stinks from rats it’s time cut the losses and do something else.
A lot of folks think their junker is worth whatever a show car of the same vintage sold for at the last classic car auction.

Re: Their still out there

Yes, there are all kinds of cars/parts out there, but I think part of the problem are hoarders who have piles of parts/cars that they will NEVER EVER use. I personally know of someone who has three good flathead engines, and an attic filled with parts, some of them quite rare and valuable. At the time he was not willing to part with any of the good stuff, but from time to time he tries to sell off the “scraps” with no success. In another 25 yrs almost nobody will care about flatheads or “classic” cars.

Unfortunately, this guy is right.

Hi; I bought one of those 'barn stored' '40 cpes and sort of wish I never had due to all the hidden problems. Newc
