I have no idea what "light buff color" is.

It this helps, this is commonly called a Buff Bluebird.

95% of all the closed Model A Fords I have seen restored have the moldings painted the outside lower body color. ALL of them are wrong. It is simple. Most people do not know to paint them the correct color.

If you look closely you can see the right rear window moulding which is painted the correct "buff" color.

Also the moulding pull handle on the drivers door can be seen the same color.
I never got around to painting the rear window molding which is black.

I painted this '29 Tudor, as per the judging standards and it is the same car shown in my Ford Barn avitar.

I spent a lt of time studying colours.

Light Buff is indeed the correct colour for your mouldings.

The only formula I have is a Britisch Standard one: BS 358

Which is yellow/brownish

Not Original, but will do: Sherwin Williams SW 6695

If your Tudor is before 4/30, the interior window trim should be Moulding
Gray. If after 3/30, Maroon.

There is a paint chip for "Light Buff" in the MAFCA "Paint & Finish Guide" book. Any Auto Paint store should be able to match that chip. A 1/2 pint should cover them all when mixed with thinner. I used PPG brand.

:rolleyes:MMMM don't have my "satandards" handy. BUT....I believe the 1930 garnish was maroon. I stripped mine to woodgrain them and discovered what looked to be original maroon.

The Judging Standards seem to add to the confusion a bit also.

An introductory paragraph on interior mouldings states; " It will be noted that on most standard models the color was generally close to the predominate color of the seat fabric..." " The dash rail and windshield post mouldings on 1928-29 standard models and early 1930 Cabriolets were painted body color. On all other models, they were painted the color indicated on the table."

As stated in an earlier post, the Standards say that before 4/30, the mouldings are Moulding Grey, and after 4/30, Maroon.

Upholstery schemes for the 1930 Tudor are as follows;
Blue Hairline Stripe, Brown Check (dropped April 1930),
Grey Check (adopted April 1930, dropped July 1931).

If Brown Check was an option, and the mouldings are supposed to be a color close to the predominant color of the seat fabric, grey doesn't seem to be right. We have an early 30 Tudor sedan we restored,(engine number is January 1930), that had remnants of the Brown Check upholstery, and there were traces of maroon on the back side of the mouldings. That's the way we restored it, and it looks great!

Can take a picture of it and post, if you're interested.
